About Get Real Audio

Get Real Audio is run by Josh Clark, mastering engineer, producer and musician. You can find out more about him here.

The Studio

Get Real Audio is in a castellated out-building on a fascinating historic estate 5 miles north-east of Bath. The large single-room arrangement was designed with mastering and mixing in mind, but also as a high-quality tracking room for acoustic ensembles, small bands, solo performances, grand piano and drums. The lack of a ‘glass wall’ allows better communication, and helps the process feel more natural and relaxed. Purpose-designed custom-fabricated acoustics.

The studio room has a couple of sofas, but if you want to get away from the music for a while, or finish off that elusive 3rd verse, there’s a lovely quiet courtyard outside, and extensive private woodlands to explore. Josh the engineer (and ex-chef) will even make some lunch for you if arranged in advance, or Sweetapples tearoom in nearby Marshfield do great takeaway sandwiches.

Elsewhere

Josh regularly undertakes recording and mixing projects in other locations. Some artists or labels own their own studios, or need to hire another studio for the purposes of recording larger ensembles or louder performances. Sometimes mobile recording equipment is used in locations such as churches, village halls, living rooms, or to capture a specific instrument (grand piano for example). It's also possible to record live concerts. Get in touch if you'd like to discuss options.
